Hi, I’m Nick and I’m offering piano lessons for all ages and abilities, based in Edinburgh.
From absolute beginners who can't tell their thumb from their pinkie to advanced players refining their technique and musical interpretation, everyone is welcome.
I’m also available to teach theory or composition, which may be of particular interest to those preparing for Nat 4, Nat 5 or Higher Music.
Support in attaining grades, sitting exams and concert preparation, or simply for the joy of playing and learning new things, lessons are tailored to your goals and musical interests.
I have been teaching piano for more than 10 years, including for 5 years at Wells Cathedral Music school, one of the country’s most prestigious music schools. I hold a music degree from Glasgow University and a Masters in piano from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Every lesson is designed with the individual in mind; that being said I consider the three main areas to be technique, musicality and repertoire, and for each of these areas we will set both short and long term progress goals to work towards.

Yes! I love teaching beginners. All I require is you have access to an instrument to practice on, and enthusiasm to learn! If you do have prior knowledge and experience, the first lesson will be about working out together what you already know, and how best I can continue you on your piano journey

I can travel to your home if you have an instrument, and am happy to teach online if that is your preference. I’m currently setting up a teaching space in Edinburgh for in person lessons.

The first lesson will be completely free, a chance for us to meet and see if we are a good fit for each other. Moving forwards my rates are £40 per hour, or £25 for half hour lessons. I’m happy to accept payment in blocks, or weekly
